Plastic Girl vs Dangerous Crow Boy - FAQs
I woke up this morning to discover that The Company of Vengeful Crows had become a meme on Tumblr, and honestly? I’m delighted! There are hashtags #crowboy, #dangerouscrowboy, #plasticromance, #PlasticGirl I never imagined would exist, and yet here we are.
The crow boys would be proud.
Readers are asking questions, making theories, and creating the kind of chaotic brilliance only Tumblr can provide. So, instead of letting those questions float around unanswered in the void, I’ve gathered them here. Consider this the official FAQ for #DangerousCrowBoy, born out of reblogs, memes, and a deep collective obsession with dangerous crow boys.
Please note, this blog won't let me reply directly to comments, but if you have more questions, I'll answer them in the FAQs.
Frequently Asked Crow Boy & Plastic Girl Questions
The Company of Vengeful Crows, book 10 in the Fae Guardians series.
Absofuckinglutely not. Crow Boy is actually a crow MAN and this book is spicy (explicit sex scenes and swearing).
There’s also wing kink. IYKYK.
It’s slow burn spice, which means you’ll read a good third of the book before you get to the first kiss. By the end, they’ve done it a few times in all sorts of positions and ways.
I don’t write gratuitous sex scenes. Each time the couple comes together, it moves the plot forward. Without those scenes, the romance arc would fall flat.
But I have had readers who are here for the plot and have said they still enjoy the story.
Sure. Crows eat plastic. JK.
No, River isn't a plastic eating crow boy. He destroys it.😈
The Fae Guardians world is set 2000(ish) after ours is destroyed in a nuclear apocalypse and magic has risen up to reclaim the world (what's left of it). But this magic refuses to flow where plastic and metal exist. Call it a self preservation technique.
Humans almost destroyed our planet. The Fae are here to ensure they don't finish the job.
The Guardians have powerful magic and can melt/smelt/disintegrate/obliterate and all sorts of shit like that to destroy the forbidden substances.
I think you'd be safe.
Crow boys aren't zombies.
Blake's boobs are au naturale. River is just an unapologetically grabby crow.
He shifts from human/fae form into an actual crow.
Yes, Dangerous Crow Boy is part of a series. This is book 10.
Yes, there is a murder of crows. There's a crow-bromance. There's the Elphyne Southeast Murder (where crow boy is from). There's the GREAT MURDER, which is the annual gathering of crow shifters in this world.
Each book in the Fae Guardians features a different couple with their own satisfying HEA, but by book 10, the overarching plot is heavy and the large cast of characters have a history. You might get a bit lost.
If you’re the sort that likes to know EVERY SINGLE EASTER EGG ever written into the series. Start with book 1. It’s my Witcher inspired book.
But if ten books is too much, then the first vampire book (where the world building is rehashed) is another entry point for the speediest, full effect of this series.
All books are in Kindle Unlimited and apart from Crow Boy (because it’s in production) they are in audio on Spotify.
I just found out that Amazon now lets us put these books into libraries without breaking their KU terms of service, so that’s on my list of things to do.
There is a content warning in the. beginning of the book regarding childbirth (secondary characters).
There is gore and some torture to crow boy's best friend in the past.
There is heartbreak.
And gore.
These crow boys are chaotic good. They also like stabbing things.
Unfortunately yes. River also demands boo-boo kisses. Be prepared.
No love triangle but there is a bromance gone wrong, and emotionally constipated crow boys brooding and being butt heads.
This book took me a year and 165k words to write. But these crow boys have been brewing since book one, when Cloud walked in and took over the story with a brooding zero fucks attitude.
There will be two more books in the Season of the Crow. They'll finish off the Fae Guardians series and hopefully be out next. year.
I love all these! But also #faeguardians would be appreciated. It's likely going to directly link to the series.
I am mega ADHD myself. I wrote Trix, the heroine from book 8 in the Fae Guardians, as ADHD. She also features as a side character in this first crow boy book.
I might have a long, difficult to pronounce Polish name but I'm Aussie as fuck. I write under Pecherczyk as a homage to my mother who passed when I was 13 and became an orphan.
I always wanted to riff off the 'mate' aspect in pnr and fantasy romance books. The crow boys was the perfect opportunity.
My favourite part from the book:
He frowned after the direction Ash left and then flattened his lips. “Why did your human call Ash her mate, then?”
“She’s confused,” River growled. “That’s all.”
“I’m not confused,” she shot back, indignant. “I’m just Australian.”
Heaps tied in. Heaps of Easter Eggs.
These crow boys and their dramatic vengeance and drama have been percolating in the background of the previous 9 books.
And I drop major clues in this book as to how it's going to end.
You need to read the dickface scene.
It's around this point where River helps Blake with some closure over her ex's abandonment during the apocalypse by carving his 'likeness' into a tree and getting her to stab it.
👇
“Take it.” He shoved the obsidian blade at her until her fingers closed around its hilt.
“Good. Now that tree over there—see it?”
“Yeah…” He jogged a few yards down and pointed to a spot above his head on its thick trunk. “Was he this tall?”
“Who?”
“The dickface we hate.”
Her lips twitched. When River’s own stretched into a slow, sly grin, a weight lifted from her shoulders.
“Lower,” she said. “He wasn’t as tall as you.”
“Knew it.” He dropped his hand an inch.
“Here?”
“Lower.”
Two inches. “Here?”
“Keep going.” Another inch.
“No—a little lower.”
“Fuck me, was he a pixie?”
The ebook is exclusive to Kindle Unlimited. You can grab it here.
The print books are available here.
The audiobook is in production, but the remainder of the series is here and on Spotify and Audible.
He smells like something woodsy and open skies. 😂🐦⬛
Maybe a little feathery.
Crow boys can shift their wings away and put on clothes and armor like anyone else. Although... there is a scene where he shifts into a crow and almost gets trapped beneath his heavy leather....
This is the Guardian 'Well Blessing' mark. It's awarded to only the Fae who've been through the initiation ceremony (a.k.a. judgement by the Well Worms) and come out worthy.
The mark is not removable. It's a sign that these Fae hold a greater capacity for carrying mana (the magic source) than other Fae and are also approved to hold the magic-cutting forbidden substances and still use magic. Makes their swords/daggers/ax's perfect for hunting magic-warped monsters.
Blake is a human from our time who froze during a nuclear winter and thawed two thousand years later.
I imagine we're all Plastic Girls.
Blake loves bedazzling.
She was P-I-S-S-E-D when crow boy stole her iPhone.
He's the hero tumblr deserves but not the one it needs right now. That honour goes to juggling lab.
They'd stab things, obliterate things, and burn that shit down.
Then probably choke on the fumes and portal the fuck out of there.
That is the question readers of the Fae Guardians have been grappling with since the very first book.
Crow boys have our hearts (and bodies).
I am fairdinkum Aussie. Yes, we say cunt all the time. Yes, we mean it both ironically and for reals.
We’re not here to fuck spiders.
Obviously Collingwood. It’s where all dickheads play.
The real question is, what kind of mullet was he rocking? Also, where are the ‘My name is Jeff’ memes??
Blake and her ex moved back to Perth, WA, after he retired from footy.
Hi. It’s me. I’m the one who made it. 🙋♀️
I do most of my mainstream cover art and illustration, however, I do commission a lot for special editions as well. I always acknowledge the artists who I’ve commissioned.
Before I was an author, I was an emo, ADHD artist in the 90s who studied fine art, graphic design, web design, fashion design with a side of marketing.
I wasn’t brave enough to start writing because I’m such a rando rambler when I talk. If only I knew that’s what editors are for.
Anyway, you can find me on Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok (who knows how long that will be around for) and also on Patreon.
No. I mean, I’d love to but I feel like I’d be cramping your style.
I’m imagining I’d be like William H. Macy in the movie “The Cooler.”
Maybe I’m wrong. Let me know.
Either way, rest assured, me and my Unhinged Aussie author mates are here for this. 👍 👍
Plastic Girl (a.k.a. Blake) is from Perth, Australia – the most isolated city in the world, and where most unhinged Aussie authors hail from.
Elphyne in the Fae Guardians is set in and around Vegas, USA. (a changed version of this world).
The magic system “the Well” is heavily tied to water, and so has reshaped this new world as it sees fit. During Blake’s last moments in our time (when dickface abandoned her), she was standing on a Perth jetty near the Swan River which feeds into the ocean.
The Well snap froze her (like all the Well-blessed characters from our time) and did it’s little magic thing to bring her across the planet to be with crow boy. He’s that special.
Officially, Crow Boy’s favorite TV show is Blake’s “Influencing.” There’s a scene in the book where he makes her pretend to do her segment.
But unofficially, I think if he were here in our time, he’d probably secretly watch four shows:
- Dexter
- How to Get Away with Murder
- Antiques Roadshow
- The Bob Ross Art Show (cos he’s an artist)
Well, funny you ask.
Yes, metal and plastic are forbidden in this new world of ours. However, Fae Guardians (of which our crow boy is one) has been judged worthy by the Well Worms and granted the extra capacity to hold mana (magic) plus the ability to hold and use forbidden items without losing their connection to the Well.
So the Guardians use metal weapons because they cut magic and help them destroy the monsters etc.
But the non-Guardian crow shifters use ‘mana-enforced and strengthened’ materials such as obsidian, ceramic, and wood (heh heh) for their stabby.
I would LOVE this so hard. If you do, send me pics or tag me and I’ll reward you with a shiny.
This book is called The Secrets in Shadow and Blood. I’ve also updated this page to show the starting point books, plus the ‘Of Pixies and Promises’ Novella which is my short, quick read inspired by Fern Gully.
Short answer: Murder.
Long answer: Murder.
JK.
I actually have always loved crows. In Australia, they’re particularly cheeky.
A crow once stole a full packet of my Twisties right off my table and then his 2 mates had the audacity to stare me down and caw at me while his two bros went to town eating them.
Hi! I noticed in the FAQ that you said you were okay with fan art and “fan tags” based on the book or the “dangerous crow boy’ concept. Would you also be okay with fic written using the concept as a jumping-off point? There’s been a suggestion to submit your tiktok as a fandom to the Yuletide Holiday Exchange, but as you came up with the concept, it’s a little bit of a grey area to do that without your okay that you wouldn’t mind.
I bought the ebook on Kindle solely based on the excerpts of it from a massively popular Tumblr (shit)post, which heartily recommended the book, and seeing this news post where you’ve been such a good sport about the memes. I haven’t read or known about the rest of the series but I’m sure I’m in for a good time.
Lana Pecherczyk, I was unfamiliar with your game.
This list answered all of my crow boy questions. It’s excellent to see independent authors like you doing what you love. It makes me want to work on my own writing. You are truly an inspiring example of how to turn an unexpected meme into joy and good publicity.
Thank you for putting yourself and your work out there.
Hi! Why do the dangerous crow boys hate metal? Metals are naturally occurring. If not metal, what do they use for stabby?
i’m delighted that ur not super pissed about the whole thing becoming a meme, and that now i get to read a cool new fantasy series written by a sick, fun-loving author. i’m even thinking about doing a youtube breakdown after i finish the series, which, trust me, i’ve never thought about doing before. i can’t wait to read the rest, and thanks for shouting out juggling lab :)
